MISSION
Children with Autism
Deserve Comfortable
Cuts Too
Huskey Helping Hands Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating comfortable, welcoming, and sensory-friendly haircut experiences for children with autism and other special needs.
Our slogan, “Children with Autism Deserve Comfortable Cuts Too,” reflects the heart of our mission: every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and confident while receiving something as simple as a haircut.
The foundation was created by VeeJay Vernon Huskey, a Los Angeles-area barber, radio and television personality, and devoted father to his son, Cameron, who is a child with autism. VeeJay is also known for his work in sports media, including Fox Sports Radio, Sports Central, and KCBS Radio.
As the father of a child with autism, VeeJay understands firsthand that an ordinary trip to the barbershop can be anything but ordinary for a child with sensory sensitivities. The sounds of clippers, physical touch, bright lights, unfamiliar surroundings, and the expectation of sitting still can quickly become overwhelming.
That personal experience inspired VeeJay to create Huskey Helping Hands Foundation.
By combining his experience as a barber, his perspective as a father, and his platform in Los Angeles media, VeeJay hopes to bring greater awareness to the needs of children with autism and other special needs while providing patient, compassionate, and sensory-conscious haircut experiences.
Huskey Helping Hands is about much more than a haircut. It’s about creating a space where children are understood, families feel supported, and every child has the opportunity to look good, feel good, and leave the barber chair with confidence.
